Environmental engineering is both science and engineering tied together. Environmental engineers improve the natural environment (air, water, and/or land resources), while maintaining healthy water, air, and land for humans and for other living things. They also improve areas where pollution has occurred.

Tasks•Design systems, or equipment for the management of water, air, or soil quality. •Advise agencies on the how to clean up contaminated sites to protect people and the environment. •Work with other scientists, hazardous waste workers, or businesses, to address environmental problems. •Serve as go-between with agencies or officials on issues relating to solid or hazardous waste programrequirements. •Provide support for the clean-up of environmental hazardous sites.•Create or improve environmental investigations or recommendation reports. •Develop safety methods for spilled waste and the loading or transporting of waste. •Inspect facilities or programs to evaluate the effectiveness and the following of environmental regulations.
