In a house the size of a postage stamplived a man as big as a barge. His mouth could drink the entire riverYou could say it was rather largeFor dinner he would eat a trillion beansAnd a silo full of grain,Washed it down with a tanker of milkAs if he were a drain.
Oxymorons are 2 contradicting words, Now tell me, isn't that absurd? An example of this is virtual reality, Is that possible or just a casual formality? What about the living dead, Am I just being a butt head? Am I leading this into a fine mess? Isn't this moment priceless? Don't worry; the poem is nearly done, I'm just having a bit of serious fun.Am I truly a big baby? Well, it's a definite maybe.Well I'm going to give you a practice test, Tell me now, who is the second best.I thank God that I'm an Atheist, Also thank Him that I am a cautious optimist. Now I am all alone, In my office that's also my home.Eating my very bland spice, Wasn't this poem awfully nice?
These lines are from a poem by an unknown author. The poem is called "Appetite." In this poem a person is describing a large man's house and how he eats. These lines are examples of hyperbole; they exaggerate how large the man is, how much the man eats, and how small the man's house is. This poem is successful because it helps me picture how large the man is, how much he eats, and how small his house is but in a non-realistic way.
This poem is by Devang Ghandi and it is called "The Oxymoron." In this peom a man is talking about oxymorons while using oxymorons. These lines are examples of oxymorons; they use two words together that are opposite in meaning. This poem is successful because it made me laugh.
Mr.Butthead!
In Romeo and Juliet Balthasar goes to tell Romeo that Juliet is dead but he doesn't know that she is in a mere coma. Romeo rushes to Juliet then commits suicide to be with his love. When Juliet awakens she finds Romeo dead and commits suicide too.
This is the death scene from Romeo and Juliet by Shakespere. In this scene the audience knows that Juliet has taken a potion to be in a mere coma so she wouldn't have to marry the man her parent's wanted her to marry because she was already secretly married to Romeo. Romeo doesn't know that she took the potion so he thinks that she is dead. This is an example of Dramatic Irony. This scene is successful because even though we know that Juliet is in a mere coma pretending to be dead, Romeo does not so he commits suicide.
The rain makes all things beautiful. The grass and flowers too.If rain makes all things beautifulWhy doesn't it rain on you?
This is a poem by an unknown author with an unknown title. In this poem they are saying that rain makes things beautiful and asking "why it doesn't rain on you?" By asking this they are saying that you are unattractive. This is an example of sarcasm. This was successfull because it actually made me laugh.
The shoemaker did not deny his apprentice anything he needed. He gave his awl.
This is a pun from punoftheday.com by RJS - New Zealand. In this pun he uses awl to make it sound like all. This is successful because its the first pun i actually got without having to read a few times.
