What are endoscopes used for
When and by whom it was invented:In 1805, Philip Bozzini made the first attempt to observe the human body through the tube he invented known as "Lichteiter"(light guiding instrument).In 1853, Antoine Jean Desormeaux developed an intrument specially designed to look at the urinary tract. He named it "Endoscope".In 1868, Adolph Kussmaul tested the endoscope on a sword swallower.
An endoscope is a device with a light attached that is inserted through a natural opening in the body to give a view of its internal partrs

Advantages:-Very sensitive-Endoscope procedures have very low risk and procedure is painless -No scar after procedure-Quick recovery (hours or a couple days)-Examination of the body without major surgery-----------------------------------------------------Disadvantages:-Only as good as the doctor performing the procedure-Cannot be examined if patient cannot be put under by anesthesia-Too much pressure can lead to vascular lacerations and excessive bleeding -Can tear or puncture organs and tissues (RARE)
