Wood Stork

Common name: Wood StorkScientific name: Mycteria americana

Wood storks are about 45 inches tall with a wingspan of 60 to 65 inches

Wood storks can be found toward the southern parts of North Carolina and around the coastal plains.

In order to protect wood stocks, wildlife reservations and protected colonies are being set up in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina

The wood stork population was lowered due to lack of food. The small fish they eat declined due to habitat destruction
