- Emphysema is a condition where the alveoli tissue has been damaged, broken or ripped. - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is the scientific name for the disease. - This disease affects the respiritory system and can make breathing harder. - This disease is usually found in elderly people or smokers. It can also be similar to asthma and be found in kids of smokers.

- This disease can be treated by going to nutrition therapy where you can learn what to eat to help you stay healthy. - You can also use an oxygen tank to help you breathe and move around. The oxygen tank usually has tubes that you can put into your nose. - You can also have surgery to have a lung transplant to get a new lung if it's untreatable.

- It can be caused by pollutants in the air that get into the lungs and block the alveoli in the lungs and break them. - Most of the people with emphysema are smokers, which is one of the main causes of this disease. - It can also be caused by the lungs not getting enough protein or protection making them lose thier abillity to expand or contract. - Factory fumes and air pollution also cause it.

- This disease causes trouble breathing, shortness of breathe, coughing, wheezing and less oxygen in the blood. - These all can make it harder to move. The air sacs tear and make it harder for you to take in oxygen.

- This disease can be prevented by good amounts of exercise, staying away from areas with lots of air pollution, not smoking and eating healthy. - Smoking would put tar into the lungs and break the alveoli so stay away from others when they smoke.
