Emperor Michinomiya Hirohito

Michinomiya Hirohito was born in the Aoyama Palace in Japan on April 29th, 1901. His early interest in marine biology led him to write several books and travel to Europe and become the first crown prince to study abroad. When he returned he took over as ruler due to his father's illness. He married Nagako Kuni in 1924. They later had seven children together. Despite his place of power he allowed his ministers and advisors create Japan's policies. There are many ideas of how Hirohito felt about WWII. Many believe he disagreed with the Axis Powers and was against siding with Italy and Germany, but joined the bandwagon and went along with his milatary who dominated the government.

Emperor Hirohito's lack of interst in politics allowed his politicians to make decisions on their own. This resulted Prime Minister and Milatary official Hideki Tojo to launch an assualt on the U.S.'s Pearl Harbor resulting in innocent deaths.

Lasting Impact

The United States Lost 2,204 citizens in the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
