Late 70'sDickinson begins a romantic relationship with Otis Phillips Lord.
15 May 1886Emily Dickinson dies of a kidney ailment, called nephritis. She is buried in West Cemetery in Amherst.

1890Dickinson's sister, Lavinia, discovers Emily's unpublished poems. They are published together for the first time four years after Emily's death.
