The Underground Railroad is not really a railroad. It is just a secret passage that slaves traveled to escape slavery. They used helpful people called conductors who provided them food and shelter on their journey.
She was born in 1820 and died in 1913. She was a slave at age 7. She would get beaten because the baby she was taking care of would cry. She was hit in the head as a girl which caused headaches and other health problems.
She was a life-saver for many people. She went on 19 trips to save slaves.No one that she led from the South died!
She was considered the "Moses" of her people, because she led them to freedom.
