“The Bread, the soup those were my entire life. I was nothing but a body. Perhaps even less: a famished stomach. The stomach alone was measuring time" -Chapter 4

NightA Book By Elie Wiesel

“The Battle did not last long. Around noon, everything was calm again. The SS had fled and the resistance had taken charge of the camp. At six o’clock that afternoon, the first American tank stood at the gates of Buchenwalk.” -Chapter 9

“I did not weep, and it pained me that I could not weep. But I was out of tears. And deep inside me, if I could have searched the recesses of my conscience, I might have found something like: Free at last!”-Chapter 8

“We were the masters of nature, the masters of the world. We had transcended everything, death, fatigue, our natural needs. We were stronger that cold and hunger, stronger than the guns and the desire to die, doomed and rootless, nothing but numbers, we were the only men on earth.” -Chapter 6

“I called out to him. No response. I would have screamed if I could have. He was not moving. Suddenly, the evidence overwhelmed me: there was no longer any reason to live, any reason to fight.”-Chapter 7

IF

If the Holocaust never happened so many things would have changed. 6 million Jews would not have died. I would have never been starved. Gas chambers would have never been created. I would not have been scared. I never would have to see my father die so painfully.I would not have the memories of being beaten. The world would not have teach this horrible event I would have never endured the pain. I would have never slept on a wooden plank. I the Holocaust never happened I would have lived with my family peacefully.-Jenni Pallas
