Elephants

Elephants eat roots, grasses,fruits,and bark. They can consume about 300 pounds of food each day. The average lifespan is usually 70 years. Elephants can weigh up to 5,000 to 14,000 pounds. Their height is 8 to 13 feet. The protection status is currently threatened. The average gestation period is 22 months, which is the longest of all mammals.

African Elephant(Loxodonta Africana)

African elephants ears radiate heat to help these large animals stay cool. They do not sleep much and roam over great distances while foraging large quantities of food.

African elephants range from sub-Saharan Africa and the rainforests of central and West Africa. Both male and females use there tusks to dig for food and water and also to strip bark. Males us there tusks to battle each other.

African elephants are the largest land animals on the Earth. They are slightly larger than their Asian cousins and can be identified by their larger ears. Their trunks are used for smelling,breathing,trumpeting,drinking,and grabbing things. Their trunks have about100,00 muscles.
