Lets get started!(pst!! if you want the most greatest and easiest- to- digest meaning well scroll down to end !!)Electromagnetic radiation (EM radiation or EMR) is a fundamental phenomenon of electromagnetism, behaving as waves and also as particles called photons which travel through space carrying radiant energy. In a vacuum, it propagates at the speed of light, normally in straight lines. EMR is emitted and absorbed by charged particles. As an electromagnetic wave, it has both electric and magnetic field components, which synchronously oscillate perpendicular to each other and perpendicular to the direction of energy and wave propagation,as said by fellow Wikipedia.Woah!.What was that awful rambling?!If you have no idea what has been written or are now drooling on your keyboard,the keys spamming the screen,well WaKe Up!Im here to make its is simple duh!.So in human english, electromagnetic radiation, energy radiated in the form of a wave as a result of the motion of electric charges. Wow the things we can put in just a sentence. Incredible. So yes now youy knoe the meaning of this wave thing well hold your butt we have just started swimming towards the tip of the iceberg! Electromagnetic waves is branched out into different kinds and below are the elaboration of those peculiar waves.

Radio Waves

Microwaves no not the microwave you use to defreeze your honey glazed chicken!The wave one!These radio waves are of very short wavelenghts.They have wave lengths of a few centimetres.Microwaves are produced by special elcetronic devices such as klystron tube.

Next,we have Infra-red.Infra-red (IR) is invisible radiant energy, electromagnetic radiation with longer wavelengths than those of visible light(in which you will know more of as you read along,be patient human:), extending from the nominal red edge of the visible spectrum at 700 nanometers (frequency 430 THz) to 1 mm (although people can see infrared up to at least 1050 nm in experiments. Visible light is part of the elctromagnetic spectrum that can be detected by your human eye. The different wavelengths are actually the different colour you see! For example,violet has a wavelenght of four multiplied by ten with the power of negative seven.

Radio waves are an invisible form of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) that varies in wavelength from around 0.04 inches (one millimeter) to over 62,000 miles (100,000 km), making it one of the widest ranges in the electromagnetic spectrum. "Radio" is a catch-all term describing all forms of EMR with a wavelength longer than 0.04 inches (one millimeter) and a frequency below 300 GHz. It is generated by the movement of electric charge, which can result from an electric current or from the random motion of atoms and molecules. Though it slighlty varies in wavelength, it is still safe to consider this wave to have the longest wavelenght.Long,Medium and short waves is usally used for radio communication while sterio radio and terrestial television communication requires high frequency(VHF).Terestial tv communication also uses ultra ultra high frequency.

It is also used to weld metals together and as a cutter of hard surfaces and to maintian constistency of cloth cutting and patterning.Oh and i almost forgot there is also Ultraviolet (UV) light is electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than that of visible light, but longer than X-rays, that is, in the range between approximately 400 nm and 10 nm, corresponding to photon energies from 3.1 eV to 124 eV. It is so-named because the spectrum consists of electromagnetic waves with frequencies higher than those that humans identify as the color violet.

Gamma radiation, also known as gamma rays, and denoted by the Greek letter γ, refers to electromagnetic radiation of extremely high frequency and therefore high energy per photon. Gamma rays are ionizing radiation, and are thus biologically hazardous. Scary huh?, well thats how I was formed! They are classically produced by the decay from high energy states of atomic nuclei (gamma decay), but are also created by other processes. Paul Villard, a French chemist and physicist, discovered gamma radiation in 1900, while studying radiation emitted from radium. Villard's radiation was named "gamma rays" by Ernest Rutherford in 1903.
