El Dorado Poem

For centuries we worked the landand worshiped the sun and fed ourselves from its bountyThen greed arrived at our shore and the chief we gilded no longer brought good harvest but destruction and the emeralds we sent laden among the sparkling waves no longer meant new corn but fabulous wealth to those whose quest was to find El Dorado
