Egyptian pyramids were functioned as tombs for the Egyptian kings (pharaohs) and their queens. There are 138 pyramids known today. Egyptian pyramids have numerous shapes and sizes, that were built before the beginning of the Old Kingdom to the end of the Middle Kingdom.

Egyptian pyramid was an artifact that not just showed political structure of ancient Egypt, but also showed Egyptians' religious belief. As Egyptian pyramids were functioned as tombs for noble families, pyramids represented pharaohs' authorities and political power during that time period. Because of its representation of authority, Egyptian pyramids became significant evidence of not just pharaohs' authorities, but also their religious belief of afterlife. Egyptian pyramid showed Egyptians' belief that kings were chosen to become mediators between gods and the people. They believed that king's soul remain in body to guide king in the afterlife. Inside pyramids, there were several relics that ancient Egyptian placed inside pyramids for their pharaohs which became the another evidence of ancient Egypt civilizations. As there are numerous pyramids exist, it showed the stability of Ancient Egypt. Pyramid showed that Egypt enjoyed economic prosperity and political stability. As numerous evidences in pyramids showed, to ancient Egyptian people, their belief of afterlife and pyramid made them had important progressed to proper eternal accommodation for their body after they had died. Which helped them to developed mummification and understanding of human body.

Social Pyramids were functioned as burial but not for all Egyptians. Only pharaohs and his noble families could have their pyramids. This showed that there are social hierarchy in ancient Egypt. As pyramids were constructed in enormous size, numerous labors or workers were required to build pyramids and pharaohs generally started construction of their pyramids as soon as they became ruler. Those represents that pyramids were one of the way of expressed pharaohs' political power that used massive resources, times, and labors to build their burial, which is similar to Qinshihuangdi's the Terracotta Warriors. Culture Pyramids were one of the results of ancient Egypt civilizations' religious belief of afterlife. As ancient Egyptians believed death was not an end but a transition to a new dimension of existence, they placed several treasures and items for afterlife. There are also the book called, "the book of death" that included the steps to pass the judge after death and go to new dimension of existence. All of those represented ancient Egyptian's strong belief of afterlife.
Inside Pyramid
Deep inside the pyramids lays the Pharaoh's burial chamber that filled with treasure and items for the Pharaoh to use in the afterlife. The walls were often covered with carvings and paintings.
Near the Pharaoh's chamber there areother rooms where family members and servants were buried. There were often small rooms that acted as temples and larger rooms for storage.
Some fake burial chambers or passages used to try and trick grave robbers. As there were valuable treasures buried within the pyramid, grave robbers tried to break in and steal the treasure.
