Effective Writing

The first stage of pre-writing skills is developing fine motor skills to maintain control and be able to manipulate the writing tools as desired.

Effective Writing

Early/Pre-Writing Supports Literacy by providing young students the ability of manipulating writing tools in the correct way. Also by providing young children with rich print environment and many writing experiences helps to build a foundation for literacy learning. Early writing skills leads to phonological awareness, sound structure, rhyming and the begining sounds which lead to a foundation for Reading. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Early Writing is the skill I choose of Effective Writing. Early writing is very important to effective writing. Early writing consists of physical marks and the meaning of these marks made from young children with their knowledge and understanding of how written language works. During this stage of writing children learn and understand print has meaning and the knowledge of how print goes from left to right, and the names and sounds of the alphabet.

Early Writing/ Pre- Writing

Early Writing can hinder Literacy when writing skills are pushed on a young student. When a child is ready to begin writing skills they will begin on their own if materials are readily avaliable. Children who are not exposed to readily resources to explore, such as books to look at, rich print environment, paper, and pencil or other writing tools. Lack of exposure to rich print environment can hinder early writing skills in Effective Writing.

Adding letters to bottle caps, Lego blocks and stones is a great way to strengthen fine motor skills which is necessary for writing skills. This activity also builds and strengthens their literacy skills.

Dupio letters are letters cut from magazines. This activity has several good targets. By inviting the children to help cut their favorite letters, also helps to build on their fine motor skills while strengthening their literacy skills as they manipulate the letters to form words.
