1 in every 5,000 live-born babies are diagnosed.__________________________________________________________________________However, there are many affected fetuses that do not survive to term.

Only 10% survive past their first year, though some do make it into their teens and beyond.

While girls are more likely to have Trisomy 18, boys with it have a higher stillbirth rate, and are also in more danger throughout neonatal stages (despite intensive care).

Race/Ethnicity has not been found to influence risk of Trisomy 18.

Trisomy 18 is an autosomal recessive disorder.
