Manet is a Rebel Edouard Manet as a teen didn't meet the expectations of his parents. They wanted him to find a professional in law but he wanted to be an artist. Though his parents didn't support his art ventures, his uncle did support him and would often take him to the Louvre.

Background Edouard Manet was a French painter who depicted everyday city life. He was a leading artist in the transition from Realism to Impressionism.

Fun Facts - As an 18 year old, Manet would go to the Louvre and copy the works of masters. - At first he was a realism painter with works like "The Absinthe Drinker". - He married a Dutch woman named Suzanne Leenhoff. She was his piano teacher when he was a child and many people think that at one point was also his father's mistress.
