born: January 19, 1809.-left family at an early age-became mainly known for his tales of mystery and detective storys-published first book in 1827: Tamerlane and other poems-joined army around the same time-published second collection:Al Aaraaf, Tamberlane, and Minor Poems-studied at an at West Point and got kicked out -focused on writing full time -married his 13 year old cousin-late 1830's published Tales Of The Groteque And Arabesque-became a literary sensation in 1845 with the publication of "The Raven"-died a mysterious death after leaving Richmond on September 27, 1849 and being found on October 3, 1849 and was then taken to washington college hospital where he said his last words on Octber 7, 1849 which were "Lord, help my poor soul."
