Edgar Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1809. Around the time of his 3rd birthday, Edgar became an orphan after his mother died of Tuberculosis and his father abandoned him. Since he was not formally adopted, he took his stepparents last name (Allan) and made it his middle name. When Poe was 27, he married his 13 year old cousin, Virginia Clemm. After her death at only 24, he wrote a poem titled "Annabelle Lee", which became one of his greatest works. Once he was so deep in debt, joined the army. After writing many more poems he was found unconcious in Baltimore, Maryland. Several days later, he supposedly died of Rabies.
