Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston on January 19, 1809. His parents were David and Elizabeth Poe. Elizabeth Poe died in 1811 when Edgar Allan Poe was just 2 years old. When he was 6 years old Poe attended school overseas in England. When Poe returned to the states as a teenagers he began to drink heavily and quickly fell into debt. In 1831 Poe went to New York where he began to work on his writing. Poe wrote several short stories and poems, such as: "The Raven," "The Fall of the House of Usher," "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," and many more. Edgar Allan Poe died on October 7, 1849.
