Personification-a person, animal, or object regarded as representing or embodying a concept, quality, or thing. Repetition-the action of repeating something that has already been said or written. Foreshadowing-be a warning or indication of (a future event). Irony-a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result. Rhythm-the long and short patterns through stressed and unstressed syllables particularly in verse form. Internal rhyme-a rhyme involving a word in the middle of a line and another at the end of the line or in the middle of the next. Alliteration-the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. Assonance-in poetry, the repetition of the sound of a vowel in nonrhyming stressed syllables near enough to each other for the echo to be discernible.Setting- Time and place where the story takes place.Antagonist- One who opposes or is hostile towards the protagonist.
Foreshadowing-In "A Tell Tale Heart". the dichromatic beating of the heart within the dead man buried in the floor.
