How is technology
related to ebola?
Ebola can survive for up to six days on solid surfaces, so 250 US hospitals have introduced a virus-killing robot intended to disinfect rooms after patients have died.Ebola poses a deadly risk to health workers, so ways of caring for patients without coming into contact with bodily fluids and other infected material would go a huge way to keeping them safe. The $115,000 robot, made by Xenex Disinfection services, uses ultraviolet light to decontaminate the room in under 10 minutes. The UV light, emitted in pulses, destroys bacteria, viruses, bacterial spores and other nasty bugs on the surface the light lands on.
Ebola virus disease (EVD; also Ebola hemorrhagic fever,or EHF), or simply Ebola, is a disease of humans and other primates caused by ebola viruses. The virus spreads by direct contact with blood or other body fluids of an infected human or other animals. Infection with the virus may also occur by direct contact with a recently contaminated item or surface.
Viruses propagate by entering a cell and hijacking the genetic replication machinery to create more copies of themselves. Once the cell has outlived its viral propagation function, the newly synthesized viruses exit to infect other cells.
