Earth's Interior
The Earth's Layers
The Earth has two poles that are magnetic. The Earth's magnetic fiels goes out past the atmosphere and affects a part of space with the name of magnetosphere. Somw scientists think that the source of Earth's magnetic field is the liquid iron in the Earth's Inner Core.
We are limited in the ways that we can study the Earth's Interior. We only know the information about the inside of the Earth from calculations of seismic waves. The seismic waves are how scientists found out that the Outer Core is liquid. Seismic waves are shocks sent through the Earth when earthquakes or explostions happen.

What we know
The Earth has 5 structural layer and three compositional layers. The structural layers from inside out are: Inner Core, Outer Core, Mesoshpere, Asthenosphere and Lithosphere. The compositional layers from inside out are: Core, Mantle, and Crust. The Inner Core is solid where as the outer core is liquid (core). The Mesosphere and Asthenosphere (mantle) have a plastic like texture. The Lithosphere (crust) is solid and is what we live on.
