Earthquakes are very hazardous to us because they can destroy everything we own. An earthquake is capable of wiping out buildings, destroying cars and other private property, as well as taking lives.

PreparationSome things you can to prepare for an earthquake include:- store valuable items in a safe place- locate safe places to hide- evacuate if possible-during an earthquake, take cover indoors.

An earthquake is a sudden and violent shaking of the ground, occasionally causing great destruction. An earthquake is caused by the collision of plate tectonics, or volcanic action.

The Richter Scale is the scale used to measure the destruction of earthquakes. (ex: above)

Most earthquakes happen along the edge of the oceanic and continental plates. About 80% of the world's earthquakes occur around the Pacific Ocean. ( the ring of fire)

The Pakistan Earthquake on Sept. 25, 2013, measured 7.7 on the Richter Scale. The Haiti Earthquake occured Jan. 12, 2010, and measured 7.0 on the Richter Scale.
