Understands metaphores based on concrete, sensory comparison (Berk, 2013).Masters addidional conversational stratgies, such as the turnabout (Berk, 2013).

Atypical development If the child does not persist in communication (eg, may hand object to adult for help, but then give up if adult does not respond immediately) (Romanczyk, Gillis, Noyes-Grosser, Holland, Holland & Lyons, 2005).

Attention becomes more focused and sustained and adaptable and planful attention emerge (Berk, 2013). Familiar events are remembered in scripts(Berk, 2013).
