Interventions- Listening to a text can be used as an assessment- Use of tape recorders and other devices-Intense reading about a favorite subject or interest enhances depth of background knowledge and enables students to gain practice to foster fluency and increase sophisticated reading skills. -Use of flashcards-Read, listen, and then re-read-Underline and highlight-Make your own cliff notes- Books on tape- Pace out assignments -Teach basic rules of spelling

Dyslexia is a type of specific learning disorder that affects language and reading; however, these students CAN read, CAN read well, and CAN achieve what others can.

DefinitionIt is a specific language-based disorder characterized by difficulties in word decoding and phonological processing abilities. Dyslexia has different forms of language problems in reading and acquiring proficiency in writing and spelling.
