Significance Paragraph Dutch was a representative of the organized crime in bootlegging alcohol and violence (kidnapping and torturing) in the 1920’s .Even though many gangsters used violence; Dutch kidnapped multiple people and tortured them. One of the men that he tortured even went blind before holding them for ransom. Dutch torched people he felt were threats or competition and in the end he eliminates them permanently. Furthermore Dutch also bootlegged alcohol. After the 18th amendment was passed banning alcohol, it made it easier to sell on the black market, I mean even police wanted alcohol. After he was released from prison for bootlegging alcohol, he was associated with more established gangsters to study the way they distributed alcohol and eliminated threats or competition. For instance, because he studied them he learned there way , he learned how to make money like them by himself. Eventually He did use them and made a lot of money, and he used the way they disturbed alcohol to make money and he killed to make money or find answers or ultimately eliminate competition. Dutch made an impact on the 1920’s because he was able to get power and respect through organized crime.

He worked with organized crime and he bootlegged alcohol and he was a criminal with violence and he was All About his dirty money!
