Palatine HillImperial Palaces

The first palace was built by Augustus, Cicero, and Mark Antony. The Roman Empire began on this hill.

This is the ruins and they can be visited today, it is near the Colossuem

It was built of sandstone at the center-most of the famous seven hills of Rome.

At one point the entire hill was covered in palaces where the emporors lived,worked, and played

Original Palitine Palaces

There was a stadium which became the heart of the hill. The best preserved house is Augustus'.The hill sits 230 feet above Rome.Cardinal Farnese built a garden ontop of the palace of Tiberius in 1550. Romulus and Remus were "found" here.
