DNA and RNA

Chromosome A chromosome is an organized structure of DNA and protein found in cells. It is a single piece of coiled DNA containing many genes, regulatory elements and other nucleotide sequences. Chromosomes also contain DNA-bound proteins, which serve to package the DNA and control its functions.

DNA DNA is similar in many ways to RNA, but there are some significant differences. It too, is made up of a sequence of nucleotides. That sequence of nucleotides is very important because it determines the sequence of nucleotides in messenger RNA, which in turn determines the sequence of amino acids in proteins, which in turn determines their function.
