What is Digital Citizenship?

Digital Citizenship is the ''norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regards to technology use.''As Educators we must model good Digital Citizenship for all students.

According to the article "Promote Digital Citizenship through School-Based Social Networking" by Matthew Winn we must begin to use social networks and online technology as an option for extending our classrooms. We must also realize that "digital citizenship does not just happen, it must be taught."

According to edtech leader Robyn ShulmanAssisted by the convenience and constant access to information provided by mobile devices, especially smartphones, 92% of teens report going online daily — including 24% who say they go online “almost constantly.” More than half (56%) of teens (ages 13-17) go online several times a day, and 12% report once-a-day use.
