National Government
The Articles of Confederation are ratified by all 13 New States. This is the first official government of the newly formed United States of America
After many attempts at reconciliation, the coloinies of America decide they can no longer abide by the rules and restrictions placed on them by the oppresive English Parliment and King George
1776
After the failure of the Articles of Confederation, it was agreed that a new form of Government was needed. After much debate and comprimise betweeen the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists, the United States Constitution was created.
The New Constitution had been created, however, some states were still not happy. They felt that the new government document did not do enough to protect their rights. So, the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution. These first 10 Amendments list the protected rights of the American people under the government.
Throughout the 1800's Political Parties formed, evolved, and changed withe the growing needs and opinions of the country.
