There are 3 types of deserts Hot & Dry, Cold, and desert scrub. The soil here is very poor because it is pridomenantly sand in the hot and dry desert and snow with permafrost in the cold desert. The hot desert gets about 15cm of rain annually while the cold desert gets 15-26cm of snow/rain annually.

The extreme temperature range in the desert is 44-49°C. The average temp. is 20-25°C. In the winter time the range is -2 to 4°C and summer's range is 21-26°C.
