Delaware was the first state to ratify the United States constitution. It did so on December 7, 1787.Delaware was one of the original 13 British colonies that that broke away to form the United States.

My father came to Delaware to work as a chemical engineer at Hewlett Packard in the 1970s. The Dupont Corporation is headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware making the state an important business hub for the chemical industry. Delaware has no sales tax and low corporate taxes. Delaware is headquarters to more Fortune 500 companies than another state. However, the main reason I live here is because of my family lives here.
