DDT was originally used in WWII to control disease. It was later used on crops due to its longevity in the environment. It was eventually banned in 1973 because of its long-term effects on human health as well as its softening of eggshells causing bird populations to plummet.
DDT resembles a normal neurotransmitter, but disrupts functions in the brain and endocrine system. It attacks the electrical pulses of the nervous system and disrupts communication throughout the organism.
- DDT is a colorless, tasteless, odorless pesticide. Commonly used on crops in the 40s and 50s until 1973.
