Daphnia

All the green particals are algae

these are daphnia eating algea.

The Daphnia lives along the benthic zone of the wetlands searching for particals of mud and algae to eat. The daphnia usually is found in the colder parts of the wetlands.

The Daphnia does not have a metamorphosis but the stages of life start with an egg. The Daphnia will stay in the egg for as long as it takes for the weather to be favorable to the body. When it hatches it is an immature male or female. It then later molts the hard carpace that it's grown because the carpace can't grow with the body. the daphnia then uses it as a sheild against predators while the new carpace grows. Once the new carpace has grown it is an adult.
