EUTROPHICATION:The causes and effects by David Lane Earth Science 9

Eutrophication is the process of organic material building up in an ecosystem. It usually occurs when nitrogen and phospherous oversaturate water, causing algae to grow. When this algae dies, it gives off a large amount of Carbon Dioxide therefore, killing the other life forms in the ecosystem. Eutrophication can occur naturally but the process is sped up by human activity. (eoearth.org)
