D-Day

Statistics-160,000 troops landed in Normandy on the day one-12,000 aircraft took part -7,000 vessals took part-4,500 Allied troops died on the first day-4,000-9,000 German troops died on the first day

On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy to fight Nazi Germany. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” D-Day was the largest amphibious invasion in history. The cost in lives on D-Day was high, but their sacrifice allowed soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe, to defeat Adolf Hitler’s war machine.
