Cytoskeleton in Action!

Parts

Importance

Cytoskeleton is what keeps the structure of the cell. It runs all around the cytoplasm and around the nucleus. If there is no cytoskeleton it means that cells will be disfigured, and no movement can occur which means the celluar organization will be disturbed. Without the cytoskeleton, the cell would collapse under its own weight. Also, without a cytoskeleton, there wouldn't be any microtubules, which are involved in meiosis, and mitosis. So without a cytoskeleton, there would not be proper cell division. in a few words, the cell would die and collapse under its own weight..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

The cytoskeleton maintains shape, gives support to the cell, provides internal cell support, and functions in cell movement.

"KEEPING THE COUNTRY IN SHAPE"

Microfilaments: Microfilaments are the smallest in diameter, being about 2-7nm diameter and are involved in endocytosis and amoeboid movementIntermediate filaments: The intermediate filaments are the next smallest, having a diameter of about 10nm and are proposed to be involved in formation of the nuclear membrane lamina.Microtubules: . The microtubules have a diameter of about 25nm and are involved in the formation of the spindle fibers used in meiosis and mitosis and they are also known to be involved in tracing a path for the movement of cellular organelles within the cell.
