What is Cyberbullying?


Ways to know whether or not a student is being cyberbullied is to watch their behavior. Students who are being cyberbullied will begin to seclude themselves and want to withdraw from the activities they are invovled in.They may become more quiet and appear to be depressed due to the actions of the cyberbully.

According to, cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Some examples of cyberbullying are mean text messages or emails, rumors posted on social media sites, or embarrassing pictures of someone online. Accoring to, 1 in 4 students has been cyberbullied.

Cyberbullying is harmful for many reasons. One of those reasons is that students can be affected in very negative ways.Students who are cyberbullied can feel depressed, have low self-esteem, and have suicidal thoughts. Cyberbullying has just as much, if not more, of an affect on students that face-to-face bullying does.

Anyone can be a part of stopping cyberbullying. If you see any negative comments online, tell an adult immediately.If you see another student showing signs of being a victim of cyberbullying, do not ignore it and be sure to tell and adult.It is always better to be safe than sorry.
