- Assess based on how students traditionally learn (i.e. oral assessment for FNMI youth)- More documentation instead of formal assessment- Ongoing, consistent feedback- Emphasis on next steps, not end results - Look into intangible culture (i.e. ways of being, not physical expressions of culture)

- Acknowledges cultural knowledge and prior experience in learning- Develops intellectual, social, emotional and political learning- Uses cultural references to impart knowledge -Integrates students' community and home knowledge into the classroom
