Natural Disasters- Deadliest earthquake in costa Rica history occured in the north of the central valley on january 8, 2009 and claimed 34 lives in and around the small village of Cinchona.

Eartquakes are quite common in Costa Rica with small ones occuring daily and tremors strong enough to feel a few times a year. Major quakes only strike about once every 10 years.

National Anthem-

Costa Rica: Government. Principal Government Officials. Costa Rica is a democratic republic with a very strong system of constitutional checks and balances. Executive responsibilities are vested in a president, who is the country's center of power.
