Coral Reefs

Coral reefs are the tropical forests of the oceans. Coral is made from bones of  small animals, which are collected on the bottom of the ocean for a long time. It offers many opportunities for many of the two million people who live near it. The reef is used for commercial fishing, in fact local fishermen can catch fish and sell them to local shops. The reef is also important for tourism. Furthermore it also protects the coast from the open ocean.

In recent years, however, the increase in temperatures, caused by climate change, is causing irreversible damage to coral reefs, being very sensitive, which are slowly leading to their disappearance.
