As of 2013, the population of the United Kingdom was 64 million. Most people in the U.K. are native English, Welsh, Scots or Irish. There are also South Asians - from Bangladesh, Pakistan and India and Afro Caribbeans.

English is the official language of the United Kingdom but in Wales people also speak Welsh. Here is a sample: 'Bore da'- means good morning and 'Nos da' means good night.British English differs from American English in several interesting ways. Many words are spelled differently - like- color is spelled -c-o-l-o-u-r, theater is t-h-e-a-t-r-e.A cookie is called a 'biscuit', private school is 'public school', french fries are 'chips', jelly is 'jam', bathroom can be called the 'loo', a stroller is a 'pram', and diapers are 'nappies'!

Did you know the most popular dish in England is 'curry' - the name given to spicy Indian sauces!!The most common foods eaten in UK are sandwiches, fish and chips, peas, pies and trifle pudding. Some of the main dishes have interesting names like 'Bubble and Squeak' and 'Toad in the Hole'.Tea is very popular! They drink over 165 million cups of tea per day! When someone asks- "Would you like a cuppa?"- they are asking if you'd like a cup of tea. Or if someone says "let me be mother" - they are offering to pour the tea!

London is the capital of the U.K. Standing on the River Thames, It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium.I visited London last summer. We went on the London Eye - a giant ferris wheel that gives great views of the city. You can see the Big Ben and even Buckingham Palace. We traveled by the tube and red double decker buses!I loved the vibe of the city with its awesome architecture, museums, musicians and street dancers.United Kingdom is a cool country that is both historic and modern. To conclude I would like to share a video of a street dance I saw at Southbank, London to put you in a jolly good mood!
