The Reaper
Cyrus McCormick invented The Reaper in 1834.
Cyrus McCormick was born in 1809 in Virginia, but ended up living in Chicago, IL.
Cyrus worked at his own factory making the Reaper in Chicago, IL. He died in 1884.

The purpose of the inventon was to save farm workers long hours of working, by having a machine that cut standing grain for them.
It affected America because farmers were happy because they weren't cutting grain by hand and it didn't take as long to cut
