Connecticut Colony

Thomas Hooker was the founder of Connecticut Colony, he was a puritan.

Facts:Name: The name of Colonial Connecticut was taken from a Native American phrase meaning “river whose water is driven by tides or winds.”Date Founded: The Colony was founded in 1636 by Thomas Hooker and other colonists, at HartfordLocation: Colonial Connecticut was one of the original 13 English colonies located on the Atlantic coast of North America, as shown on the map

The economy was mainly fishing, whaling, shipbuilding and shipping. The economy of other parts of Colonial Connecticut was based on timber products, the fur trade, maple syrup, copper, and livestock products.

Fundamental Orders of Connecticut: The Fundemental order were the laws and rules for Connecticut colony was put in.

Other Rule Breakers:Anne Hutchinson was a unauthorized minister. she held Bible meetings for women that soon had a charge against her.

Other Rule Breakers:Roger Williams was banished to, he was a minister and believed Native Americans should be treated with respect. When he was banished some Indians gave him shelter.
