Signs and SyptomsRedness of the white portions (conjunctiva) of the eye and inner eyelid, swelling of the lids, yellow discharge from eyes, and itching

1) Direct contact with discharge from eyes or upper respiratory tract of an infected person2) Through contaminated fingers3) Indirect contact with surfaces and objects (tissues, towels)

The incubation period (length of time from when someone gets infected to when symptoms start appear) depends on what is causing it. Usually it ranges from 1-3 days.

Antibiotics treatment. eclude child for 24 hours after medication is started. Frequent hand washing and disinfection of toys/ surfaces is necessary.
