* Conjunctivitis is also know as pinkeye* Pinkeye is the redness and inflammation of the whites of the eye.* Pinkeye is very contagious
Pinkeye or conjunctivitis is caused by many things such as:* Viruses* Bacteria* Irritants such as soaps, dirt, and smoke* Allergies such as dust and pollen
Symptoms that may be connected to pinkeye are* Redness on the whites of the eyes* Increase in tear production* Yellow crust on the eyelid* Itchy eyes* Burning eyes* Being sensitive to light*Blury vision
There are many different types of treatments that can be used to treat pinkeye anywhere from over the counter to home remedies such as:*Clartin* ZyrtecBut there are dozens of other treatments that could be used it just depends on the type of pinkeye that it is.
Some of the precautions that that will help from the spread of the infection are:* having the infected child or children stay in a seprate area until the parent can pick the child up.* Keep the child home until he/she home until the child has been on antibiotics for 24 hours* Frequent hand washing * Disinfection of all toys and surfaces as necessary.
