Congruent Triangles

Markings on a Congruent TriangleWhen two triangles are congruent we often mark them like the picture on top. The sides makred with the lines are equal in length and the angles marked with the arcs are equal in size.

These two are not congruent because they do not have exactly the same sides.

What are Congruent Triangles? They are two triangles that will have exactly the same three sides and exacty the same three angles. They might not be in the same positions but if you turn it or flip it, itwill show up.

How to tell if Triangles are Congrent?

All 3 corresponding sides are equal in length.A pair of corresponding sides and the included angle are equal. A pair of corresponding angles and the included side are equal.A pair of corresonding angles and a non-included side are equal. Two right triangles are congruent if the hypotenuse and one leg are equal.
