PROBABILITY:

How likely is something to happen

Probability:

Number of ways it can happen

Total number of outcomes

Two events are dependent if the outcome or occurence of the first affects the outcome or occurence of the second so that the probability is changed.

FORMULA:

CONDITIONAL PROBABILITY: An event B in relation to an event A is the probability that event B occurs given that event A has already occurred.

Example:

What is the probability of getting a full house in poker?

* Full house: One pair and three of a kind.

Probability of getting three cards of a kind

Probability of getting a pair

Probability of sequence for full house

Example:

A fair, ten-sided die was rolled. Find the conditional probability that the number rolledwas less than 5 given that the number rolled was even.
