Mouse-a hand-operated electronic device that controls the coordinates of a cursor on your computer screen as you move it around on a pad.

CD/DVD Drives- drives that allows you to read CD’s and DVD’s and to write data on (burn) on a CD or DVD.

Monitor- display device that is packaged as a separate peripheral

Webcam- a video camera that inputs to a computer connected to the Internet, so that its images can be viewed by Internet users.

Speakers- speakers external to a computer.

Keyboard-input device that contains keys users press to enter data and instruction into a computer.

Motherboard- main circuit board of the system unit, which has some electronic components attached to it and others built into it.

Microphone Port- a port for you microphone to plug in to a computer.

Video Card- a printed circuit board controlling output to a display screen.

Fan- any fan inside a computer case used for cooling purposes, and may refer to fans that draw cooler air into the case from the outside, expel warm air from inside, or move air across a heatsink to cool a particular component.

(Peripherals) Printer- a device used to print things from a computer.

System Unit- the main unit of a personal computer, typically consisting of a metal or plastic enclosure containing the motherboard, power supply, cooling fans, internal disk drives, and the memory modules and expansion cards that are plugged into the motherboard.

Network Port-an application-specific or process-specific software construct serving as a communications endpoint.

Serial Port- a connector by which a device that sends data one bit at a time may be connected to a computer.

USB Port- where USB's are plugged in to computers for use.

Sound Card- a device that can be slotted into a computer to allow the use of audio components for multimedia applications.

Expansion Slots- a place in a computer where an expansion card can be inserted.

Modem- communications device that converts a computer’s digital signals to analog signals.

Microphone- an instrument for converting sound waves into electrical energy variations, which may then be amplified, transmitted, or recorded.
