One thing to keep in mind is that compounds can be a molecule, but not all molecules are coumpounds. For instance, a hydrogen gas is a molecule formed by 2 hydrogens. Since, the molecule is made from the same atoms it is not a compound.

Compounds, Elements, Mixtures Project

Name compound

An element is "a chemical substance that cannot be broken-down into any simpler substances by chemical reactions." Elements are what forms the Periodic Table (shown below). Each element has its own atomic number and atomic mass. An atomic number tells one how many protons there are in the atom. The atomic mass is the number of protons and neutrons within the atom.

Mixtures are all about the physical properties and not necessarily about the chemical properties. What do I mean by that statement? Well "the individual molecules enjoy being near each other, but their fundamental chemical structure does not change when they enter the mixture. If the chemical structure changed, it would be called a reaction." A mixture can either be homogenous or heterogeneous. Homogenous mixtures is when the mixture is uniform. Heterogeneous mixture is when the "a mixture that composes of components that aren't uniform or they have localized regions that all have different properties. "

Compounds can be defined as a molecule made of atoms from different elements."
